This is a 2-D study to see if you could fabricate water-cooled steel
heads for an iron Sportster.
The benefit of steel is simply its
structural strength. This is not intended as a casting. The head is
fabricated as a weldment.
With the thin walls allowed by the stronger steel, this design should
weigh about the same as an aluminum head. The thin wall also lets the
heat get out, despite the poorer specific-heat of steel vs aluminum. |
