Mainshaft ball bearing snap ring

Two snap rings hold the mainshaft roller bearing into the trap door.
Two of part number 35112-52 from 1952 to 1978,

One 35112-52 and one 11006 from 1970 to 1984.

The change in 1979 may be the engineers trying to reduce side-play of the bearing when the clutch is dis-engaged.

Sportster_Trap-doorsThe Iron Sportster trap door assembly holds the mainshaft, countershaft, and shifter mechanism.

I think the part book is saying that in late 1979, the factory replaced the outer snap ring with one of these.
